In order to choose a parliamentary candidate, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold the parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency today, Saturday, April 13, 2024.
The primary takes place on March 7, 2024, the day of the late MP John Kumah's death.
On April 6, the vetting committee approved all nine candidates who wanted to run in the party's parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency.
Since the party started nominations on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the nine people picked up forms on Thursday, April 4 to compete in the NPP parliamentary primary for the Ejisu seat.
The by-election has been scheduled for April 30, 2024 by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Following a brief illness, the 45-year-old MP passed away, leaving a wife and six kids behind.
The by-election has not yet elicited interest from any other political party. According to their statement, the National Democratic Congress is currently debating whether or not to take part in the by-election.
